All children in KS2 at Ashurst Wood will have the opportunity to cultivate an interest in French and make good progress in developing their language skills. There is a clear progression throughout the Key stage and each year group are encouraged to listen, respond and enjoy experiencing learning another language. The curriculum provides a balance of spoken and written activities to allow our children to develop a strong foundation for further language learning in KS3.
Our curriculum encourages the children’s curiosity and deepens their understanding of the world. Learning a new language should be fun, so children will use role play to build their confidence and sing songs in French, which helps to master intonation and pronunciation. Learning a new language instils self-confidence and provides opportunities to learn about other cultures and countries.
At Ashurst Wood we use Primary Languages to support the delivery of our curriculum.
